If there is one type of preamp that professional audio engineers could all agree has defined the tone of pop/rock albums for decades, then it would certainly be  the '73 type of microphone preamps. '73-style preamps have been used massively both in the studio and live for many years and are still considered a "Holy Grail" among preamps today. Warm Audio's WA-73 (with or without EQ), is a homage to British audio history.
